Description
Say goodbye to chemical-filled dryer sheets and hello to 100% Alpaca fiber dryer balls.
Why alpaca? Alpaca, unlike wool, is considered hypoallergenic and contains no plastics like commercially available plastic dryer balls. Our dryer balls are handmade using locally sourced alpaca fiber from Ten Seven Acres in Galchutt, North Dakota.
Each dryer ball is about 2-3″ in diameter and weighs between 2.5-3 ounces. They are made of 100% felted alpaca fiber with no fillers and are processed without the use of harsh chemicals.
Every set of dryer balls comes with a knit drawstring storage bag and usage tip sheet.
Why 100% Alpaca Fiber Dryer Balls?
-
Reduce drying time
- Dryer balls improve air circulation by separating laundry items, which can help reduce drying time. This can be especially helpful for drying large items like bedding. Our experience has shown dryer balls can reduce drying time by at least 20%!
-
Reduce static
- Dryer balls prevent laundry from rubbing together during the drying cycle, which can reduce static shocks.
-
Soften clothes
- The agitation of dryer balls in the dryer loosens the fibers in clothes, making them feel softer.
-
Reduce lint
- Dryer balls can help reduce the amount of lint created during the drying cycle.
Frequently Asked Questions about Alpaca Dryer Balls
- Won’t my clothes get fuzzy?
- No! A common misconception is that dryer balls will make your clothes fuzzy. Quiet the opposite! Dryer balls tend to be the most statically-charged item in your laundry, meaning the hair sticks to the dryer balls and not your clothes! One thing to note is that some shedding may occur from your dryer balls during the first use or two. This is expected and is part of the curing process.
- How many dryer balls should I use at a time?
- We recommend using your full set of four dryer balls each time you dry your laundry.
- Are the dryer balls scented? Can I add a scent?
- The dryer balls are not scented. If you’d like, you can add a few drops of your favorite essential oil to the dryer balls every few loads to give your laundry a truly fresh scent. Our favorite essential oils: lavender and sandalwood.
- How long do dryer balls last?
- Forever. Well, maybe not quite that long but a really long time. We’ve been producing dryer balls for over 9 years and many people tell us that they are still using their original set! Our official statement is that dryer balls should last at least 250 loads.
- What do I do with a dryer ball that has worn out?
- Your dryer balls may eventually wear out, especially if you use them with heavier items like shoes, thick outwear, or heavier items. Fortunately, as long as the balls remain round, they’ll still work even if they don’t look like they first did. If you do decide to retire your dryer balls, they can be discarded in the trash or composted!
- What is in a dryer ball?
- Our dryer balls are 100% natural alpaca fiber with no fillers, no dyes, no additives, and no chemicals. We source the alpaca fiber from our own alpaca farm and other similar farms across the United States.
