Under Contract/Pending Sale

Reasonable offers considered
All machinery is in good working condition and is currently being used with no known problems. Normal use, wear and tear, paint chips, and scratches are expected. All equipment will be thoroughly cleaned and greased prior to sale. The equipment is available April 2025 or earlier if requested by the buyer.
We have processed alpaca, angora, wool (every breed you can imagine), bison, yak, etc. on this setup. This setup can handle fiber lengths from 2.75″ all the way to 10″ – making it one of the most well-rounded setups available for small-scale fiber production.
It is considered a semi-worsted setup, meaning it makes a much more consistent product than many other brands of artisan milling equipment currently in production. Put it simply, this is some of the best artisan milling equipment you can get. We aren’t just saying that either – the demand for our services (and retail yarn) over the past four years is proof.
We have consistently run between 3,000 to 5,000 lbs of fiber through the machinery annually, producing everything from lace weight yarn to bulky yarn, batts and roving, cloud, and pin-drafted roving.
Unlike some other milling equipment available, the single 8 spindle spinner/plyer is capable of yarn as large as 6 wraps per inch (bulky) all the way to 45 wraps per inch (lace) on a single machine. The spinner/plyer operate independently, too, making fast work of large batches.
Without many exceptions, the equipment within this setup uses off-the-shelf bearings, motors, motor controllers, etc. making maintenance an absolute breeze. All equipment runs on single-phase 240V AC power and uses standard NEMA connectors. We operate the mill in a 2400 square foot space, however half of that space is dedicated to fiber storage. It is reasonable to fit a mill in 800-1000 sq. ft. of space without storage considerations.
A week of training on the equipment at our facility in Colfax, North Dakota (25 minutes south of Fargo) is included prior to our closure in April. Afterwards, onsite training at your location can be arranged for a nominal fee. In either case, we will remain available to provide assistance to the new owners as needed going forward. The timing is perfect as it allows you to ease into production as the 2025 clip gets underway!
Delivery and transportation can be arranged anywhere in the United States at the expense of the buyer. For reference, the equipment can fit inside a 26′ box truck.
At this time, this equipment is listed as a set and will not be individually sold.
Branding and Book of Business
Brand is still available. All inquiries welcome.
The Yarn Factory brand is strong and known within the fiber processing community across the United States, Canada, and beyond.
The equipment package price does not include the Yarn Factory name/branding/trademark, professionally developed ecommerce platform website (WordPress + WooCommerce), processing form templates, marketing collateral, production management system, social media accounts, or book of business, but these items can be negotiated if the buyer is interested.
For reference, our book of business includes over 130 active fiber processing clients (alpaca, wool, and more) representing every region of the United States. While we can’t guarantee the successful transition of clients, we know that with our training and guidance, there is a high likelihood of maintaining a good portion of these accounts.
We are motivated to see the Yarn Factory brand continue for years to come. These items would give a new mill owner a tremendous head start within a proven processing system, almost guaranteeing success from day 1. Please reach out if you are interested.
Financing
We are unable to provide direct financing for the equipment. It should be noted that we had no issue obtaining financing for the equipment from our local community bank when we purchased it 4+ years ago. We are happy to provide resources to assist you in this process. For those local to Fargo, we recommend Bell Bank and Gate City Bank.
However, we can provide financing for the branding/book of business as we know it is more difficult to obtain traditional financing for intangible assets.
